Please join the Shout Your Abortion BK collective for the release of volume 3 of our zine! Abortion is a common and often highly emotional experience and society shames us into silence about it. Why be quiet? Let's talk about it! Share stories, build community, smash the patriarchy.
Abortion is normal. Our stories are ours to tell. This is not a debate.
Space is limited, get your tickets here:
We'll be screening the feature-length documentary Trapped, by Dawn Porter, and the short, artistic narrative, Names of Women, by Poppy Liu. We'll have a panel discussion (details below), readings by zine contributors, radical feminist art from Lucile U Valkury (astropatheticus.net), and more! Additionally, one of the founders of the #ShoutYourAbortion movement, Amelia Bonow, will be in attendance and will share a few words with us.
*Taina, a Planned Parenthood clinic escort
*Poppy, director of Names of Women
*Emily, Government Affairs and Advocacy Manager at National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund (NIRH)
*Rachel, a staff person at The Guttmacher Institute
Zine & ticket sales are donated to the New York Abortion Access Fund(NYAAF), a local non-profit that provides financial support to people in need of abortions. Tickets are sliding scale and no one will be turned away. Any ticket over $10 will come with a free copy of Volume 3. Back issues will also be for sale!
See ya there!! (Our program will begin on time, don't be late!)
